Last time we heard of Sony Ericsson's Xperia X8 it was crawling around the FCC, but last night we found the little thing in a more welcoming, though equally as judgmental place -- our hands.

Formerly codenamed the "Shakira," we were hoping the Android phone would be a bit more modern and slim, but sadly that's just not the reality of the rather chunky smartphone. Just like its X10 Mini and Mini Pro siblings, the 3-inch handset runs Android 1.6 with Sony's rather-deep custom skin -- a Sony rep on hand told us there would be an upgrade to 2.1 sometime in Q4. That seems a bit late, but there's no doubt that the X8 is a lower-end phone with its 3.2 megapixel cam and 600MHz CPU. The X8 we saw was wearing a white cover, though were also told there would be other interchangeable cover options available when it hits the market soon.

Other than that we found the prototype (it was clearly marked that!) to be rather responsive and the UI to be quite intuitive, however the onscreen keyboard was extremely cramped for typing a URL into the browser. In comparison to the hoards of powerful Android smartphones we've seen in the last month or so, the X8 is certainly lackluster, but the little thing may just be an affordable unlocked choice when it hits the US for less than $300 soon.

Still remember the rumors of the HTC Smart2? This rumor was first circulated in May 2010, and this smartphone will be HTC's second mobile phone based Brew.

Unlike its sibling, the HTC Smart2 will be equipped with features WiFi and Office Suite. If viewed from the image above Smart2 HTC has the same design with HTC Smart, possibly the second specification is also the same smartphone.

HTC Smart2 will be launched in India with price tag of around 10,000 INR or equivalent to USD 1.9 Million.

Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 to Be Released on September 2

Samsung is going to introduce its much-anticipated 7-inch Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 at IFA 2010, which will be held on September 2 in Germany.

The device will be based on Android operating system. Probably it will be a good competitor to the Apple’s iPad.

The 7-inch device will be based on Android 2.2 Froyo. Apart from that, it comes with Swype input interface, HD movie playback, video calling GPS Navigation, e-reader as well as Flash support. Moreover, it will feature a 3.2-megapixel camera.

Instead, you get a speaker, an unusual (though not unprecedented) concept that should make this a decent media device... and the kickstand around back should help with that, too. We'd argue that this is the prettiest WinPho 7-powered device we've seen so far -- not surprising, considering HTC's reputation -- though we're sure plenty of folks would prefer the QWERTY. T-Mobile G2 breaks cover, not nearly exciting as expected

You've probably heard that T-Mobile USA are running a teaser site for their mysterious upcoming Android smartphone - the G2. These are the first shots of the device and we gotta say that for something that was supposed to continue the revolution started by its predecessor, it does look quite dull.

Anyways, it could be the blurry pictures alright, so let's not pass anymore judgment before we see some better shots.

Obviously the smartphone is simply the US version of the rumored HTC Vision, as was rumored before. We'll keep our eyes and ears open for new details.

Naturally, the Android will feature the HTC flavoured UI, the HTC Sense. With Android 2.1, users will get Google search, Google Maps, Google Maps Navigation, Gmail, YouTube and more. The newest dual SIM phone form Sammy is the E2152, an entry-level candybar that will appeal to those who don’t have too much money to spend.

The E2152 has appeared on Samsung’s MEA website, and it seems to feature a QVGA display, Music player, FM radio, and a VGA photo camera.

Mobil.cz has it that the Samsung E2152 will be available starting next month. The phone’s price should be around €90 ($115).

Samsung currently has more than 10 dual SIM phones, including the B7722 – its first dual SIM handset to come with 3G connectivity.

Acer beTouch E130 Hits FCC

The Acer beTouch E130 made a stop over at the FCC to get handled last week. The device has a very similar look to the Blackberry and has a full QWERTY portrait keyboard. Under the hood is Android

While that isn't much in the way of cutting edge capability, there is always a market for low-to-mid-range smartphones, so there's potential. One of the main differences when comparing both models – E120 and E130 – is that the latter comes with a QWERTY keyboard. According to the press release, Expansys will be exclusively offering the Stream – complete with a 3.7-inch AMOLED WVGA touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and 5-megapixel camera – from August 9th, priced at £399 ($615), though the retailer’s own product page is currently showing August 7th as the due-date.

The Stream has a HDMI output, 720p HD video capture, Bluetooth 3.0 and WiFi b/g/n, along with GPS, UPnP and DLNA compliance. Memory includes 512MB of RAM and 2GB of flash storage, together with a microSD card slot, and Acer has slapped on their own custom UI.
